The Dark Roast Legacy FG5 is a distinctive all-mahogany acoustic, crafted entirely from premium African Khaya Mahogany and finished in a rich Dark Roast stain for a beautifully moody aesthetic. Its tone mirrors its looks: warm, rich, and brooding, with pronounced mid-range presence and impressive depth. Built in the Earth body shape—Patrick James Eggle’s refined evolution of his historic Linville design inspired by classic Orchestra Models—the FG5 features a 15" lower bout and elegant contours that make it a true all-rounder. It delivers excellent projection when played unplugged, yet remains comfortable and well balanced for extended stage use by players of any size.
A torrefied African Mahogany top gives the Dark Roast its mature, “played-in” voice from day one. Through a precise roasting and re-hydration process, the wood becomes more stable, resonant and tonally developed, adding an aged complexity rarely found in all-mahogany guitars. Solid African Mahogany back and sides enhance clarity and sustain, while figured ebony binding, fingerboard, bridge, and pickguard, along with genuine bone nut, saddle and bridge pins, complete the premium specification. Finished with Fishman’s FLEX-T-BLEND system, combining an undersaddle piezo and internal microphone with discreet onboard controls, the Dark Roast FG5 is as refined and expressive on stage as it is acoustically inspiring.
