2000 Fender Custom Shop Closet Classic '56 Stratocaster Fiesta Red (Pre-owned)
Here we have an exceptional Fender Custom Shop Closet Classic ’56 Stratocaster in Fiesta Red. Originally built in 2000 by the Fender Custom Shop for the NAMM Show, this instrument was created to demonstrate the then-new Closet Classic series - a finish style designed to replicate the subtle aging of a well-preserved vintage guitar. Unlike heavy relics, Closet Classics capture the look and feel of an instrument that has spent decades carefully stored, developing light patina, lacquer checking and character without excessive wear.
Rather than being released immediately, this Stratocaster remained within the Custom Shop alongside other early prototypes and reference builds. It wasn’t until 2010 that a major U.S. dealer acquired these instruments directly from Fender, which explains why the accompanying Certificate of Authenticity carries a 2010 date despite the guitar’s 2000 origin.
One of the cool features of this instrument is the back of the neck and tremolo cavity have John Cruz's quality control stamps.
One of the cool features of this instrument is John Cruz’s quality control stamps, “JC” are present in both the tremolo cavity and on the back of the neck - subtle but desirable details that authenticate his direct involvement.
