1933 Gibson A-50 Oval Hole Mandolin
Here we have a lovely Gibson A-50 oval hole mandolin from the 1930s. Built in Kalamazoo, Michigan, this mandolin features a carved spruce top, maple back and sides, and the classic teardrop-shaped body associated with Gibson mandolins since the early 1900s. Unlike the later f-hole A-50s, the oval soundhole is known to produce a warm, round and resonant tone well-suited for old-time, Celtic and early jazz styles. Many examples from this period also sported sunburst finishes, elevated fingerboards, and simple yet elegant appointments.
In very good condition considering it's age. Had a replacement bridge and missing its pickguard. Comes with original chipboard case.
