1949 Gibson ES-150 Sunburst
One of the cleanest Gibson ES-150 we've ever seen. Finished in its original Sunburst, this post-war archtop has all the character and warmth you'd expect from a classic Gibson of the period. It plays exceptionally well, with an even feel across the fingerboard and the rich, resonant tone that has made these guitars so highly regarded.
Introduced in 1936, the ES-150 was the world's first commercially successful electric guitar and the model famously associated with Charlie Christian. Following the war, Gibson increased the body size from 16" to 17", matching the dimensions of the L-5, and adopted the longer 25½" scale length. The result was an instrument with impressive acoustic volume and projection, making the post-war ES-150 one of the few electric guitars that is equally satisfying to play unplugged as it is through an amplifier.
