Collings OM1JL Julian Lage Model #36964

Designed in collaboration with Bill Collings and guitarist Julian Lage, the OM1 JL is a highly personal take on the Collings Traditional Series, combining the company's exceptional build quality with a specification shaped around Lage's own preferences. Its traditional voicing emphasises a strong fundamental tone, warm, rounded highs, solid projection and a crisp, articulate attack, giving the guitar a wonderfully musical and responsive character.

Although it shares its basic specifications with the OM1 T, the OM1 JL has one particularly distinctive feature — its neck. The profile was carefully modelled on Julian Lage's much-loved 1939 Martin 000-18, the guitar heard on his 2015 solo album World's Fair and one that he played extensively for many years. The original Martin's neck had developed a distinctive, asymmetric shape through decades of playing, and Collings digitally analysed its dimensions to recreate that worn-in feel. The result is a remarkably comfortable and characterful neck, paired with a 1 11/16" nut and Collings' standard 25½" scale length. It's a beautifully understated and highly individual Collings, with a voice and feel that make it particularly special.
