The Eastman FV880CE is a hand-carved, all-solid archtop guitar designed by Utah-based luthier Ryan Thorell in collaboration with jazz virtuoso Frank Vignola. Drawing inspiration from traditional gypsy jazz guitars, the FV880CE delivers exceptional acoustic volume, projection and tonal clarity—impressive by any standard for a modern archtop.
Released briefly in 2022, the FV880CE shares much of its design and specification with the FV680CE, but features flamed maple for the body and maple for the neck in place of mahogany, giving it a brighter tonal character as well as striking visual appeal.
This particular guitar is something of a rarity. It's a factory FV880CE that is unusually configured as a purely acoustic archtop effectively making it a one-off, purely acoustic version of the FV880CE. For players who prefer the natural sound and simplicity of an acoustic archtop, this makes for a particularly interesting and unusual instrument.
